Webinar: Preoperative Software Planning In Primary Shoulder Arthroplasty: Case Discussion Panel
Live Date:
August 18, 2021
7:15 PM CST
This webinar is focused on the use of preoperative software planning in primary shoulder arthroplasty. A case-based panel discussion format will be utilized to review cases with varying degrees of preoperative pathology in glenohumeral arthritis and rotator cuff tear arthropathy to demonstrate how surgeons plan and choose a particular implant type and implant position, including how the goals of pathologic correction may vary across surgeons. Different CT-based preoperative planning software systems will be demonstrated, including highlighting similarities and differences in the determination of preoperative pathology across different planning systems.
Learning Objectives
- Understand the similarities and differences in the determination of preoperative pathology across different CT-based preoperative planning software systems, including measurement of glenoid version and inclination, humeral head subluxation, and amount of glenoid bone loss.
- Understand the factors that impact surgeon decision-making on implant type (standard versus reverse total shoulder arthroplasty, augmented versus non-augmented glenoid component) and implant position when using CT-based preoperative planning software; such as preoperative glenoid retroversion and inclination, humeral head subluxation, amount of glenoid bone loss, Walch classification, and degree of rotator cuff muscle fatty infiltration.
- Understand the different techniques to address asymmetric glenoid bone loss in primary shoulder arthroplasty, including eccentric reaming, glenoid bone grafting, and glenoid component augmentation, and how to use CT-based preoperative planning software to evaluate and choose between each of these surgical methods based on the goals of implant positioning.
