The volume of shoulder arthroplasty has increased steadily over the last decade in the United States. Reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (RTSA) is a great surgical option for the treatment of rotator cuff tear arthropathy. Expanded indications of RTSA include failed hemiarthroplasty or total shoulder arthroplasty, proximal humerus fractures in the elderly, massive irreparable cuff tear without arthritis, Walch B2 or C glenoid morphology, and chronic anterior shoulder dislocations. This webinar will discuss optimal implant component position in RTSA, pre-operative planning / intraoperative navigation, RTSA for proximal humerus fracture, avoiding / managing common complications after RTSA and also an update on the diagnostic / therapeutic considerations for infections after RTSA. The faculty will consist of a group of experts on shoulder arthroplasty and the participants will have an opportunity to ask questions throughout the session.
Learning Objectives
- Understand the optimal RTSA implant positioning based on the available evidence in the literature.
- Recognize the advantages of pre-operative planning and intra-operative navigation in RTSA.
- Learn tips and pearls on how to successfully manage proximal humerus fractures with RTSA.
- How to avoid and manage common complications after RTSA.
- Learn the current recommendation on how to work up and manage infections after RTSA.
