Cases Solved! Radial Nerve Injuries
Cases Solved! is a journal-based CME activity series presented by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Each activity consists of an interactive clinical case scenario based on a recent article from the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (JAAOS) followed by a multiple-choice assessment to put your diagnostic and management skills to the test.
These current, peer-reviewed articles touch on important areas of orthopaedic patient care and describe how the article impacts practice behavior and/or systems of care.
Learning Objectives
- Discuss the relevant anatomy, classification, and epidemiology of radial nerve injuries.
- Describe an appropriate diagnostic evaluation of a patient in whom a radial nerve injury is suspected.
- Review the advantages and disadvantages of early versus late surgical exploration of radial nerve injuries.
- Explain the role of nerve repair and nerve transfer in the management of radial nerve injuries.
- Identify appropriate tendon transfers to restore functional deficits resulting from radial nerve injuries.
