Cases Solved! Dupuytren Disease
Cases Solved! is a journal-based CME activity series presented by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Each activity consists of an interactive clinical case scenario based on a recent article from the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (JAAOS) followed by a multiple-choice assessment to put your diagnostic and management skills to the test.
These current, peer-reviewed articles touch on important areas of orthopaedic patient care and describe how the article impacts practice behavior and/or systems of care.
Learning Objectives
- Discuss the pathophysiology and etiology of Dupuytren disease, including the role of genetics, trauma, inflammatory response, and other factors in the disease process.
- Describe the normal anatomy of the palmar fascial structures and the pathologic anatomy of the palmar fascial structures in patients with Dupuytren disease.
- Identify the typical clinical presentation of patients with Dupuytren disease.
- Review the indications and contraindications for the nonsurgical and surgical management of Dupuytren disease.
- Explain the importance of postoperative rehabilitation and the management of potential complications associated with surgical treatment.
