Evidence-Based Guidelines: What Do a Study’s Results Mean?: This course focuses on the methodology used to search for meaningful outcomes to determine the true state of health. The module examines the two types of outcomes, Surrogate, and Patient Centered, as well as the characteristics of useful instruments when measuring Patient Outcomes, and the justified use and challenges when utilizing Surrogate Outcomes. The module also addresses appropriate questions to ask when accessing the validity of outcomes, as well as evaluating the Minimum Clinically Important Difference (MCID). Examples of statistical/clinical significance from five different studies are reviewed, displaying how the MCID, Confidence Intervals, and P Values are an integral factor when accessing study values.
