Achilles tendon rupture is a common condition. Ruptures can be managed nonsurgically or surgically, and the ideal treatment is controversial. In the United States, most ruptures are managed surgically, particularly in active individuals. This chapter focuses on surgical strategies for the repair of acute and subacute midsubstance and insertional ruptures.
