The Bridle Procedure for the Management of Dorsiflexion Paralysis of the Foot
Footdrop is the common end point for many disease processes. The result is inability to dorsiflex the ankle and possibly the toes, and the foot may drag as the patient moves through the swing phase of the gait cycle. Patients compensate for the loss of function of the foot by hiking the hip on the affected side and flexing the hip and the knee to clear the ground.
