Arthrodesis of the Tarsometatarsal Joint for Acute Midfoot Injuries
The acute midfoot injury (Lisfranc injury, or tarsometatarsal [TMT] subluxation or dislocation) has long posed a challenge for surgeons. A move from closed reduction and percutaneous pinning to open anatomic reduction with more rigid internal fixation improved outcomes, but many patients have some pain at follow-up. Primary arthrodesis may provide superior outcomes when the injury is mostly ligamentous.
