Primary Total Hip Arthroplasty Through the Direct Anterior Approach on a Standard Surgical Table
Since the 1970s, total hip arthroplasty (THA) has most often been performed through the direct lateral approach or the posterior approach to the hip. More recently, surgeons have used several new approaches, often called minimally invasive, with the goals of improving outcomes and minimizing damage to the structures surrounding the hip. Among these approaches, the direct anterior approach (DAA) has achieved popularity surpassing that of other new approaches.
