Arthroscopic Management of Osteoarthritis of the Elbow
Patients with primary elbow arthritis who have notable limitation of motion and pain at the end range of motion are candidates for arthroscopic débridement of osteophytes. Most patients with posttraumatic contracture have heterotopic ossification, errant implants, ulnar neuropathy, or malunion and will benefit from open surgery to gain motion. However, a small subset of these patients who do not present with these complications but do have posttraumatic osteoarthritis may benefit from arthroscopic treatment.
