Femoral Revision With Noncemented Tapered, Fluted Titanium Stems
The use of revision total hip arthroplasty (THA) has steadily increased over the past decade as a result of an aging population; the increasing prevalence of hip arthroplasty; and the fact that increasingly younger, active, and more demanding patients are undergoing primary THA procedures. The challenge of revision THA is to produce a functional, pain-free, biomechanically sound hip in patients with suboptimal quantity and quality of bone and, in some patients, incompetent soft tissues around the hip.
