Management of Early-Stage Osteonecrosis of the Femoral Head
In patients with early-stage osteonecrosis of the femoral head, surgical treatment options are aimed at preservation of the femoral head. Commonly used techniques include core decompression or percutaneous drilling, nonvascularized bone grafting, and vascularized bone grafting. Proximal femoral osteotomies can also be used for the management of early-stage osteonecrosis; however, this technique is not discussed in detail in this chapter.
