Total Hip Arthroplasty: Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip
Degenerative disease secondary to hip dysplasia occurs at an early age. Most patients who require THA undergo the procedure when they are younger than 50 years. In these patients, THA often requires special techniques and is associated with a higher failure rate than in patients with degenerative joint disease. The higher failure rate is likely related to the altered anatomy of patients with this condition.
