Management of Periprosthetic Femoral Fractures
The Vancouver classifi cation system has been validated in several studies and is the most widely used classifi cation of periprosthetic fractures. Fracture types are classifi ed according to the site of the fracture in relation to the prosthesis, implant stability, and available bone stock around the implant. The original Vancouver classifi cation has been expanded in a recently published classifi cation, the Unifi ed Classifi cation System, which describes additional fracture types.
