Graft and Prosthetic Options for Management of Anterior Instability From Severe Humeral Bone Loss
The unique anatomy of the shoulder enables freedom of movement in multiple planes and renders the shoulder one of the most mobile joints in the body; however, the multidirectional range of motion (ROM) of the shoulder also places it at risk of instability and dislocation. The shoulder is the most commonly dislocated joint in the body, with an incidence of dislocation of 23.1 per 100,000 person-years. Young adult men have the highest rate of dislocation. Anterior glenohumeral dislocation is the most common presentation, accounting for more than 95% of all dislocations.
