Evidence Based Orthopaedics: Therapeutic Studies addresses the key principles for formulating an answerable clinical question for a literature search using the PICO strategy. In addition, this module reviews key issues such as randomization, concealment, and blinding, and applies the concepts of relative risk reduction and absolute risk reduction, all which assist in determining the validity of study results. Upon completion of this CME, participants will develop an understanding of the concept of number needed to treat, and how it is calculated, as well as interpret a graphical display of confidence intervals in reports of clinical trials.
