Live Date:
May 11, 2023

Like all humans and health professionals, orthopedic surgeons are subject to cognitive and emotional biases. These biases are often imperceptible to the surgeon but can greatly afflict their behaviour, decision-making, interpretation of tests and medical literature. This webinar will explore the concept of bias and how it relates to the practice of orthopedic surgery. It will focus on two main types of bias (cognitive and implicit) as well as strategies to mitigate their potentially negative effect on our patients.
Learning Objectives
- Define the different types of bias affecting orthopedic practice.
- List three strategies to reduce one's own bias.
- Discuss the impact of bias on clinical practice and patient care
